Line, point in q1, perpendicular to a vertical line : Find the general equation of a line through (3, 2) and perpendicular to the line x = 1.

Since the given line is vertical, the perpendicular line will be horizontal, with slope = 0. Using the horizontal-line form of the equation of the line, we get

y = b. Substituting the coordinates of the required point, we get 2 = b.

Finally, the equation of the line can be written as y = 2.

In the general form, it becomes y - 2 = 0.
